Presidential decree signed on the holding Peoples of Russia International Week

With the aim of strengthening the unity of the multinational people of Russia and developing international humanitarian cooperation, the events of the Peoples of Russia International Week will take place in 2026 and, in accordance with the Presidential Decree, will be held annually thereafter. The preparation and holding of the Peoples of Russia International Week will be coordinated by the apparatus of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

“The idea of organizing the Peoples of Russia International Week is inspired by the multifaceted richness of the culture of the peoples of our country. The events within the framework of the Week will serve as an example of how we must cherish and multiply our civilizational wealth, preserve the unique historical and cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia and the CIS, and strengthen unity founded on traditional spiritual and moral values. The spiritual backbone of our society is formed by such important moral guideposts as: devotion to the Motherland and respect for our historical heritage, commitment to truth and justice, humanism and compassion, love and a strong family. Today it is precisely these values that serve as our foundation, underlie our statehood, provide support in the life of the individual and the family, and shape culture and worldview. All of this will become the leitmotif of the forthcoming Peoples of Russia International Week. I am confident that it will become one of the most vivid, beautiful, and heartfelt events of 2026,” said Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

Among the themes and formats of the Peoples of Russia International Week are: a business and concert programme, educational events from the Russian Geographical Society and the Russian Society “Znanie”, and photo exhibitions dedicated to the peoples of Russia and the geographical diversity of our country.

Guests of the International Week will also be able to take part in a Film Forum, comprising both a business segment and screenings of films created by Russian and international filmmakers.

“The events of the Peoples of Russia International Week will reveal the very soul of Russia: that identity of which we speak so much. Within the framework of the Week, the Roscongress Foundation’s similarly named initiative “The Soul of Russia”, will bring together the unique heritage of more than 190 peoples of Russia into a shared space of dialogue and cooperation. The events in the Week’s programme will demonstrate how, through the richness of the national culture of our peoples, their traditions and contemporary creativity are revealed. The opportunity to discover Russian culture and its history takes on additional significance and particular relevance today, especially for the younger generation,” said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.
